Police in four different counties are investigating suspected suicide incidents reported on May 28, 2025.
Police say the tragic events highlight a disturbing trend, with victims ranging in age from 25 to 55.
In Nairobi's Kahawa West, a 28-year-old male, Henry Ndika, was found dead in his locked house near Marion School.
Relatives, unable to reach him since May 27, broke down the door of his house on May 28.
They discovered his body lying lifeless on the bedroom floor. A suicide note was recovered from the scene, which was documented by CSI Kasarani.
His body was moved to the KU Referral Morgue for autopsy.
Further north in Nyeri County, Winfred Wangari Njerehu, a 34-year-old woman, was found to have died by suspected suicide in her Karurumo village home.
Area assistant chief Peter Njuguna Wagura reported the incident after being alerted by a neighbour.
Officers from Gichira Police Station found her body hanging in the sitting room, with no other visible injuries.
Her body is now at Nyeri County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
Baringo Central also reported a suspected suicide.
Cecilia Ruto, 55, was found dead under a tree in Rotumoi village.
Her body had a long tree bark resembling a rope around her neck.
The assistant chief, Daniel Kipchelis Kandie, reported the discovery. Ms. Ruto, who suffered from a psychotic disorder, had been missing since May 27.
It is suspected she hanged herself, and the tree bark broke. Her body was taken to the Baringo County Referral Morgue.
Finally, in Migori County, Julius Ndote Magina, a 25-year-old shop owner, was found dead in his house in Oyani village.
Relatives detected a smell emanating from his house, which had been closed since May 25.
After breaking the door, police found his lifeless body hanging with a sisal rope. No suicide note or physical injuries were found.
The body is at Migori Level IV Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
All cases are currently classified as "PUI" (Persons Under Investigation), with DCI teams in Kasarani, Tetu, Baringo Central, and Uriri handling the ongoing investigations.
