Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has presided over the graduation ceremony of 12 exceptional Kenyan coaches from the House of Coaches project in France.
He was joined at the event by the Mayor of the City of Miramas, France, Frédéric Vigouroux.
The graduating cohort comprised nine athletics coaches and three others specialising in taekwondo, cycling, and strength training.
Through the program, the coaches were exposed to modern training methodologies, state-of-the-art facilities, and the advanced sports science for which France is renowned.
"We aim at reflecting the depth of talent drawn from both the school systems and local sports clubs," Mvurya noted.
This initiative stands as a powerful symbol of international cooperation, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence in sport.
“The project exemplifies what is possible when communities from different corners of the world come together with a common purpose,” Mvurya stated.
The project is primarily born from the decentralised sports collaboration between the City of Miramas and Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Mvurya expressed his gratitude to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, under the leadership of Paul Tergat, for their support in the initiative.
He also thanked the City of Miramas, especially Mayor Frédéric, and the generous people of Miramas for their warm hospitality and steadfast dedication to the growing partnership.
“Together, we are building a legacy that transcends sport, a bridge between nations, cultures and futures,” he noted.
Mvurya was accompanied by Kenyan Ambassador Betty Cherwon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, Paul Tergat, and Director of Sports Jaxon Indakwa.
