Coast leaders vow to support President Ruto

Leaders from the coastal region joined William Ruto in State House on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to discuss the economic growth of the region.

During the discussion, they expressed their unwavering support for the President, stating that he has greatly involved leaders from that region in his government.

Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hassan Joho noted that it was the first time in a long time that leaders from the region sat together, stating that they are always on different sides.

“I think it is for the first time that these leaders have held solidly together like this,” Joho said

He also reassured the President of his utmost support in doing his job to ensure growth and development for the people at large.

Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Salim Mvruya, echoed his sentiments, adding that they will work together with the leaders to ensure that the vision he has is achieved.

“We will continue to ensure that we put together your vision for the people of Kenya to be fulfilled,” Mvurya said.

Kilifi North MP Owen Baya also appreciated Ruto for including people from the coast in the government, stating that this will help them address the problems experienced in their region.

“We will be in government to ensure that we people from the coastal region also get to enjoy the fruits of being part of the government,” he said.

In addition, the Senator for Kilifi, Stewart Madzayo expressed that he will support Ruto to the latter noting that the coastal region has been marginalised for a very long time.

“For a very long time we have been left behind but this is our time for us to harvest since we have a President who has us in mind,” Madzayo said.

Member of Parliament for Likoni Constituency Mishi  Mboko reassured Ruto of their support no matter what comes their way because of the goodwill that he has shown for the people.

“ Just know that you have our support and we are right behind you,” Mboko noted.
