Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna is marking his 43rd birthday today, with an outpouring of tributes celebrating his leadership, sharp legal mind, and public service.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was among the first to wish him well, posting a cheerful message across its official social media pages.
“Join us in wishing our Secretary General Edwin Sifuna a very happy birthday,” the party wrote.
“SG, this is your day, have a blast and many happy returns.”
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris also joined in, praising Sifuna as a bold and effective leader.
“Happy Birthday to Edwin Sifuna, a sharp legal mind, bold voice in the Senate, and steadfast SG of ODM,” she wrote.
Adding a personal and cultural touch, Passaris concluded her message in Luhya, Sifuna’s native language.
"Yenjoya Endalo yoo Etalangi ye mu Senate, ruma e pin khupe sherehe!" This is loosely translated to, "Enjoy your day, he lion of the Senate, send location we party."
Though Sifuna has not announced whether a birthday celebration is planned, messages of goodwill have continued to pour in from ODM supporters, colleagues, and fans online.
“Happy belated birthday to my very able SG, Senator,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter), echoing the sentiments of many.
Sifuna has not revealed if there will be a party yet.
Born on May 22, 1982, in Kakamega County, Sifuna has carved out a significant role in Kenyan politics.
Since entering the Senate in 2022, he has become one of ODM’s most vocal figures—respected for his eloquence, legal expertise, and tireless advocacy on issues affecting Nairobi residents and Kenyans more broadly.
In February 2023, Sifuna was appointed deputy minority whip in the Senate, further cementing his influence within the opposition and Parliament.
As he turns 43, the ODM Secretary General stands out as a driving force in the country’s political landscape, admired both within and beyond party lines
