The United Democratic Alliance has expelled nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba from the party membership.

UDA said Orwoba no longer enjoys any privileges accorded to party members, nor is she authorised to represent or act on behalf of the party in any capacity.

Orwoba was accused of allegedly contravening the party’s Code of Conduct.

The party nominated Consolata Wabwire Wakwabubi from Kimilili Constituency, Bungoma County, to fill the resulting vacancy.

In a statement on Monday, UDA secretary general Hassan Omar said the party has formally written to the Speaker of the Senate to initiate the process of her removal from the Senate.

“Pursuant to Article 29 of the UDA Party Constitution, and having exhaustively deliberated on the matters before it, the Party's Disciplinary Committee has resolved that Senator Gloria Orwoba be expelled from the membership of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party with immediate effect,” the statement reads.

During its May 19, 2025 meeting, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party adopted and ratified the Disciplinary Committee's decision.

Accordingly, Orwoba ceases to be a member of the UDA Party.

Omar said the party has notified the Registrar of Political Parties (RPP) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of her expulsion.

“While the UDA Party upholds the values of freedom of expression and association as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, fidelity and loyalty to Party ideals are fundamental to the constitution and to further consolidate our multiparty politics by strengthening political parties to Senator Gloria Orwoba cannot therefore continue to play for two political teams simultaneously,” the statement read.

In a statement, NEC said they have resolved to ratify the expulsion of Orwoba from the UDA Party.

“Whereas on May 19, 2025 UDA National Executive Committee met to discuss the ruling of the Disciplinary Committee in Disciplinary Complaint No. 2 of 2025, Festus Omwamba and Henry Muriithi Versus Nominated Senator Gloriah Orwoba,” NEC said in a statement.
