
Police are
investigating an incident where a woman was found murdered and her body dumped
in a river in Ortum, West Pokot County.
The body of the victim was found half-submerged in water in the river Muruny within Chebrumben village.
Police later identified the victim as Betty Nakuti, 44, who was a resident
of Lokirimo estate in Ortum township.
The body had two
deep cut wounds on the head.
Police said there were blood traces on the riverbank, suggesting that the deceased was killed before being dragged into the river.
The body was moved to Kapenguria Referral Hospital
mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
No arrest has been
made so far.
Meanwhile,
two people, including a form four student, drowned following ongoing heavy rains
in the country.
The
student drowned in Kibish, Turkana County as he crossed a bridge of a swollen
river, police said.
The
police said the deceased was a form four student at Lokitaung Boys Secondary
School.
The
efforts to trace and retrieve the body were ongoing on Sunday.
In
Gachakai village, Gatundu, Kiambu County, a 13-year-old boy drowned in a river
as he attempted to cross it.
The
body was found on Kianda Kinene River long after the incident had happened,
police said.
Locals said the child had hearing challenges and was last seen on May 9 in the area.
A
search was conducted before the body was found the following day.
The
body had no visible injuries and was moved to Gatundu Level Five hospital
mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
Elsewhere, a commuter train hit
and killed a 25-year-old man in an incident in Makongeni area, Nairobi.
The body of Vincent
Ngeno was discovered on the railway line in the area long after the incident.
The victim was a guard at the same Makongeni railway station when the incident happened.
The police are
investigating the incident.
The body was moved
to the City mortuary awaiting postmortem.
And in Maseno, Kisumu County, a
boda boda rider was killed and robbed of his motorcycle in an attack on May 10.
The
body of George Otieno, 31, was found on the roadside in Ojola area.
Police
established that the deceased had, on the previous day at about 9 pm, ferried
two pillion passengers from Kisiani to Osare area, but never came back to the usual
operating place.
The
body had two deep cuts on the back of the head and one at the forehead.
There
was no blood at the scene, suggesting that the deceased was murdered somewhere
else and the body was dumped at the secondary scene.
He
was robbed of the motorcycle and his mobile phone.
