Sombre mood engulfed Consolata Shrine in Nairobi's Westlands area as family,
friends and leaders gathered to celebrate the late Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were.
Mourners at the requiem mass observed a black dress code
with a touch of orange, reflecting the solemnity of the occasion and the
representation of the Late MP as a member of ODM.
Family and leaders reflected on their time with the slain MP, eulogising him as a family man who dedicated his life to serving God and the people of Kasipul.

It was escorted by Members of Parliament, many allied to the
ODM party, into the church.
Ong’ondo was shot dead by a lone gunmen along Ngong Road near City Mortuary on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Police said the killer trailed the MP from Nairobi CBD on a sport motorbike, which he used to get away immediately after shooting the MP.

The National Police Service said the fatal shooting of the
MP appeared to have been both “targeted and predetermined,” raising alarm over
the motive behind the brazen attack on a sitting legislator.
Family and leaders called on the government to speed up
investigations into the murder of the MP.
MPs also called for a thorough probe to unmask the masterminds of the murder.
