President William Ruto believes the crisis the country is facing could be a blessing in disguise.

Speaking during an engagement with the media at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said the current crisis will help Kenyans talk candidly about the nation's affairs.

“This crisis is a very important reflection point for the country,” he stated.

He cited the country’s huge debt as one of the issues Kenyans should reflect on.

“In 2013, the country's debt stock was Sh1.8 trillion. In 10 years, it increased five times,” he added.

The President noted that the country initiated many development projects over the 10 years but can no longer rely on borrowing.
