Suzanne Jepkemboi, the daughter of late June Moi has eulogised her mother as an inspiring soul and someone who was always there for everyone.

Speaking at her funeral service in Kabarak, Jepkemboi said her mother taught her love, patience, endurance and how to pray.

She described late June as the most loving and understanding woman any person could ever meet.

"My mother was an inspiring soul, always there for those who came to her with their troubles. Her home was open to everyone and her hospitality made everyone feel important. All my friends love my mum almost as much as I do. She became Aunty June to all of them and never failed to make them laugh or feel at home," Jepkemboi said.

"She was the most humble, loving, compassionate, understanding family-oriented woman who was one of the most beautiful souls you could ever meet. She taught me love, patience, and endurance and she taught me how to pray and lead by example. She praised me whenever I did good and pointed out my mistakes with a gentle voice."

She added that her mother encouraged her to work hard in school and the sports field.

Revealing that she was also an incredible sportswoman.

"Whether it was hockey, swimming or polo, she knew what she was doing. She always challenged me and pushed me when it came to sports... always motivated me to do the best I could and not to be scared. She taught me to be strong and gentle," Jepkemboi added.

"Mum loved listening to Boyz II Men or Michael Jackson... She also loved Nollywood films, something I could never understand. She enjoyed a good cryptic crossword every morning with a cup of tea and though I tried to help her, I never seemed to get the answers right."

Jepkemboi further said that her mother listened to her even when she didn't care about what she was talking about.

She noted that her mother also loved art.

"Mum was a good chatter which is where I think I got it from, always updating her with the latest gossip at school and what was going on in the media even if she didn't care she always listened.

"Mum was a great artiste and I discovered this while ravaging through her stuff and came across the notebooks that she had in secondary school. Her love for art reciprocated through me, she kept all my little drawings and doodles I did for her. Though they weren't the best at the time, she encouraged me to take it on further and pursue my passion for art," Jepkemboi added.
