The high cost of living is the main key issue of concern among Kenyans, Infotrak poll shows.

The poll released on Thursday revealed the high cost of living as the main concern with 58 per cent followed by unemployment at 41 per cent.

High taxes came third with 33 per cent followed by corruption at number four with 19 per cent.

According to the poll, access to healthcare was number five with 17 per cent followed by Infrastructure and Roads tied with access to quality education at number six with 15 per cent.

Others were poverty reduction at 13 per cent, cost of doing business at 11 per cent, access to clean water at 10 per cent and insecurity and crime at 10 per cent.

Other concerns among Kenyans were youth empowerment with eight per cent, women empowerment with five per cent and alcoholism and drug and substance abuse with four per cent.

Environment conservation, equal distribution of resources, ethnicity and tribalism, the exchange rate of Kenyan shilling and the country's huge external debt tied at three per cent.

Land issues, inadequate agriculture support and constitutional and electoral reforms were at two per cent.

Others were evictions, electricity and energy security and housing levy were at one per cent.

According to Infotrak, food security was at 0.3 per cent.

The survey was conducted between March on March 8 and 9, 2024 

The survey sample was 1000 representing the universe of adult Kenyans who were 18 years and above at the time of the survey.

The sampling frame was designed using Population Proportionate to Size (PPS) guided by the 2019 Census.

The survey was conducted on March 8 to 9 2024.

The survey covered all the 47 counties and 8 regions of Kenya. 

To ensure national representativeness, the distribution of the survey sample across the regions was proportionately allocated.

It had a 3.099 per cent at 95 per cent degree of confidence.
