The government’s promises towards improving the lives of Kenyans will be fulfilled, Deputy President Rigathio Gachagua has assured.

Speaking on Monday at Nyahururu Stadium in Laikipia County during a burial service, the DP said President William Ruto has already stabilised the economy and improved the country's financial stability.

Gachagua said the President is keen on development and determined to improve the lives of Kenyans by fulfilling all the other pledges he made while campaigning for office.

“We have subsidised fertiliser, the price of unga has gone down and we are dealing with the huge debt we found. Now, we are constructing roads, dams and key projects to improve the lives of the people," the DP said.

He spoke while attending the burial service of Igwamiti Ward MCA Irene Wachuka’s spouse, John Muturi.

The DP said he has been assisting the President in ensuring faster implementation of the government's programmes and achievements of intended objectives as instructed by the Head of State.

"I have 15 years of experience in the public service and another 15 years in the private sector. I was a Member of Parliament for five years. Leadership calls for experience and that is the value I bring to the Government."

Gachagua who has been spearheading the fight against illicit brew and drug abuse in the country took the opportunity to assure Laikipia residents and the country at large that he will not be distracted until the menace is fully dealt with.

He urged the Church to continue supporting the war for the ongoing nationwide crackdown to succeed.

"The fight against illicit brew will not stop. I’m happy with the war in Laikipia because it has been going on as ordered. The administrators here led by the County Commissioner should keep up the fight. We must deal with this menace to save our people from the poison" he said.

The DP said he had been asked by the President to ensure security is beefed up in Laikipia County to enable residents to carry out their businesses without fear of being attacked by bandits.

"President Ruto's administration will deal with insecurity in Laikipia once and for all as we promised," he assured.

The DP condoled with the family of the Igwamiti Ward rep and pledged the President’s and government’s support during the difficult time.

"She is a reliable pillar for us. The President and I will not abandon her during this difficult time because she has been a true friend to us," he said.
