A man accused of giving false information to a police officer alleging that a consultant attempted to knock him down with his car has been charged before court.

David Sosah is alleged to have informed police constable Hamisi Kahindi that Peter Ngatia attempted to knock him down or run over him while driving his Prado TX on June 12, 2023, at about 1545hrs within Woodley Estate.

The prosecution said the accused gave the information he knew to be false intending thereby to cause the police officer to use his lawful power to arrest and charge Ngatia.

He is said to have committed the offence on June 12, 2023, at Jamhuri police station in Kibra sub-county within Nairobi County.

Sosah appeared before Kibera Senior Resident Magistrate William Tulel on Friday where he denied the charges.

The complainant's lawyer Linet Rono urged the court to grant the accused person a tough bond term and requested that he deposit his passport in court if he had any.

Sosah however pleaded for lenient bond terms stating that he was not a flight risk.

The magistrate released him on a Sh300,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh 150,000.

The case will be mentioned on March 15 for pre-trial.
