Six suspects have been arrested in connection to Sunday's incident where City Inspectorate officers were assaulted when they went to inspect an alleged illegal construction in South C.

In a statement Monday evening, Governor Johnson Sakaja said the county government has also closed the construction site, withdrawn their approval and is filing charges against the developer.

"Goons who attacked our officers in Kayole, KCC and South C were arrested by the police who are continuing with investigations. So far six have been arrested and detained at the Central Police Station," he said.

He called for public cooperation in identifying all individuals involved in the attack on the officers to ensure they are held to account for their actions.

"As these are arraigned in court, we call upon members of the public with further information to come forward and assist us to bring them to book as we will not tolerate lawless and coordinated attacks against officers on duty," the governor said.

In a statement on Monday, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai called for prompt action against the perpetrators of the attack and suspension of the construction works to pave the way for investigation.

He further alleged that besides being physically injured, the enforcement officers were also sexually assaulted.

Governor Sakaja termed this allegation an exaggeration and a false account of what happened.

"While the allegation of rape is exaggerated and inaccurate, we condemn the physical attacks on our officers and are monitoring their recovery. I have reached them and offered my support and encouragement," he said.

"We have closed the construction site in South C, withdrawn their approval and are filing charges against the developer. We will not hesitate in taking further action against those who violate county laws or engage in violence against County Staff," Sakaja said.

Images shared online by Alai showed a number of City askaris bleeding and bandaged.

One, a female, had multiple wounds on her head in what appeared like her braids were pulled out by her attackers.

Another male officer had a bandaged right hand while his female counterpart had her head heavily bandaged.

The officers were allegedly attacked by young men they found at the construction site while on a mission to inspect the legal status of the construction.

Kenyans on X, formerly Twitter, condemned the attack and demanded prompt and stern action against those involved.
