Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has assured President William Ruto of Mt Kenya support as he delivers campaign promises to the region.

Gachagua was speaking in Lari constituency, Kiambu County as they commissioned Sh150 million modern market at the Soko Mjinga.

They also launched the construction of one section of Mau Mau road in the Nyambari area, where it will be joining the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Gachagua urged the president to help the people of Utheri wa Lari to get title deeds as well as to revive the uplands factory so that the locals could get employment opportunities.

He further urged Kenyans to give the President time to steer the country and help in the realization of development agendas.

He took the opportunity to appreciate the electorates for electing the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He warned Mount Kenya leaders of dividing the region based on the Counties.

“We will speak with one voice and rally behind the president for the realization of the projects, “he said.

The president and his deputy are on a three-day visit to the Mount Kenya region.

The visit comes amid growing concerns about the unfulfilled promises made during the 2022 campaign.

Political observers have claimed that the three-day tour is strategically time-timed for Ruto to strengthen ties with the regional voters after a recently heated succession battle.

Speaking on Saturday, the deputy president warned leaders of dividing the region noting that this might delay the development in the area.

He urged leaders to work together and speak in one voice.

The deputy president was reacting to the recent endorsement of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as the suitable candidate to deputize Ruto in 2027.

Speaking during the event, Nyoro declared unconstitutional support for Gachagua as the Mount Kenya region supremo.

"I will support you unconditionally," Ndindi told Gachagua.
