Police in Kwale are investigating an incident where a husband killed his wife and injured their infant in Kwale.

In a police report on Tuesday, the area chief called the police and reported the incident.

The deceased, a 25-year-old, was found killed in the sitting room with multiple injuries on the upper part of her body.

Police said that her skull was slashed with open wounds visible. Her right hand and ring fingers were chopped and dismembered.

According to the police report, their infant aged one year was deeply cut on the skull.

She was rushed to Mariakani Sub County Hospital and later transferred to Coast General while in serious condition.

Police said the body has been moved to Coast General Mortuary pending post-mortem.

Police said the motive of the murder is yet to be established and the murder weapon has not been recovered.

The suspect is still at large and police have launched a manhunt.
