Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence has urged Kenyans to learn German in anticipation for job opportunities she says she’s pursuing in Berlin.

In a statement on Sunday, Bore said she flew to Germany on Saturday to follow up on the job opportunities.

“Guten Morgen! Good morning from Berlin Germany and a blessed Sunday on this chilly morning. Arrived for official duties to follow up on job opportunities initiated and discussed by President William Ruto and his counterpart German Chancellor Olaf Scholz,” she said.

“Great people, learn the German language in the meanwhile, within a short period one should learn the basics; Remember opportunity favours the prepared,” the CS added.

President Ruto hosted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at State House, Nairobi during his state visit to Kenya on May 5, 2023.

On November 19, Ruto flew to Germany in what he said was in search for job opportunities for Kenyans.

The President said during Chancellor Scholz’s visit to Kenya in May 2023, the German leader agreed to open doors to 250,000 professional, skilled and semi-skilled Kenyans in bid to meet Germany's huge human resource requirements.

“I was in Saudi Arabia; the German chancellor was in Kenya a few months ago and tonight I am flying to Germany because he promised employment opportunities for 200,000 Kenyans and I have to go organise for that. We also have an agreement with the French president and other leaders from all over the world,” the president said.

He spoke while attending a church service in Sotik, Bomet County.

Ruto said then that his vision is to send at least 5,000 Kenyans weekly to work internationally.

During the church service, the President disclosed that CS Bore would be signing pacts towards the realization of this goal.

“Together with Bore, we are signing bilateral labour agreements to export Kenyan labour. Every week, we want an export of about 3,000 to 5,000 people to provide labour all over the world so that they can bring us money to transform this country,” President Ruto told the congregation.

He dismissed critics of his foreign travel saying he never travels for leasure as a tourist but rather in pursuit of job opportunities to cut the country’s unemployment rates and help reduce the cost of living.
