On January 14, 2020, former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich was sent packing by then-President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The reason for this was that he had been accused of graft where money meant for the Arror and Kimwarer dams was allegedly embezzled.

Rotich had been at the Treasury as boss from 2013 when Uhuru was first elected.

In December last year, Rotich and eight others were cleared in the Sh63 billion Arror and Kimwarer graft case by the court.

Trial Magistrate Eunice Nyutu said there was no evidence to warrant them being placed on their defence. He was a free man after years of being in and out of the corridors of justice.

On Thursday, the former CS was on the headlines again, but this time around, it was for a different reason.

President William Ruto has appointed Rotich as the Senior Adviser on Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy.

The appointment was made in a letter by the Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei.

His appointment has attracted a series of mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans, some sending congratulatory messages while others have questioned the appointment.
