The Sh33 million graft case facing ex-senior roads official proceeds for hearing today.

The case is against Mwangi Maina, former chief engineer of roads and Nicholas Ndung'u a former resident engineer.

They had been charged alongside former Transport CS Michael Kamau nine years ago but his case was withdrawn after the DPP said there was insufficient evidence to sustain his case.

He had been accused of arbitrarily authorising the redesigning of the Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-Sirisia road in Bungoma County leading to the loss of Sh33 million.

The case against the other two proceeds to a hearing before Milimani Magistrate Victor Wakumile.

Sh7 billion Triton case

Separately, the Sh7 billion Triton case facing Yagnesh Devani and five others proceeds today.

The case involves the unauthorised release of oil by the Kenya Pipeline Company in 2008 without informing financiers.

Devani, who was a director of Triton Petroleum Limited is accused of engineering the release of the oil company's stock of fuel from KPC storage without informing the financiers.

He is facing the charges with Mahindra Pathak, Julius Kyalo Kilonzo, Collins Otieno and Triton Petroleum.

Others charged are Benedict Mutua, Peter Manono Mecha and Phanuel Silvano.

They are all charged with conspiring to defraud a number of petroleum companies by purporting that Triton had diesel ready for sale at KPC storage in Kipevu.
