The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of the inter-institutional transfer window for students placed in the 2025/2026 academic year.
In a circular addressed to vice chancellors, principals of university constituent colleges, and directors of TVET institutions, KUCCPS said the transfer window will run from July 14 to August 24, 2025.
The transfer process will be conducted entirely online through the KUCCPS portal.
Students who wish to change either their programmes or institutions are now required to do so by following the stipulated procedures within the given timeline.
The opening of the portal follows the conclusion of the placement process and the release of the placement report for the 2025/2026 placement cycle.
"As per the practice, KUCCPS provides an opportunity to students who may wish to change their programmes and institutions through the online application system following the laid down procedures within the set timelines," the circular reads in part.
According to KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome, the inter-institution transfer process involves several steps.
This includes the student initiating the transfer request online, which will then be endorsed by the receiving institution.
The releasing institution is expected to process the release via their institutional portal, after which KUCCPS will finalise the approval and generate a transfer letter.
The student is then required to download the approved letter and present it to the receiving institution for admission and joining instructions.
Both the releasing and receiving institutions, she said, will obtain a transfer report in their institutional portal.
"The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to inform you of the timelines and to request you to accord the applicants timely support during this period," she stated.
She also emphasised the importance of adhering strictly to individual programme cut-off points and subject requirements for inter-faculty or inter-programme transfers, particularly in degree programmes.
The 2025/2026 placement results were officially released on July 1, 2025, marking the start of the post-placement adjustment period for students seeking alternative academic paths.
