President William Ruto has told MPs that his administration has made tremendous progress in moving the country forward by overcoming great obstacles.
Ruto told a joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly that his administration has faced enormous challenges, but has steadied the country on the path of progress.
"Kenya's destiny cannot be derailed by our challenges," the president said during his State of the Nation Address.
The president while highlighting the achievements his administration has made over the last 14 months, warned Kenyans that it has not been easy.
"From the first day in office, we have worked hard every day to move our agenda forward amid many challenges to forge a path in the direction of progress,'' he said.
"This is the essence of our commitment to make progress despite challenges and move forward by overcoming great obstacles.''
The president told his critics that Kenya can neither be defined by its problems nor be derailed by its challenges.
The president laid bare the challenges the country was facing at the time he assumed office in September last year, saying solutions advanced under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda have been a magic touch.
He said that immediately after the elections, the Kenya Kwanza administration had identified external shocks, fiscal distress and structural imbalances as the bane of the country's challenges.
"We are on the right track and we shall in due course achieve our plan,'' he said.
