Several passengers have sustained injuries in an accident along the busy Nairobi - Mombasa highway.
They were passengers of two public service vehicles that got involved in a road accident a few metres from Signature Mall in Athi River, Machakos County.
Both buses belong to the Rembo shuttle. The incident according to eyewitnesses happened around 3.30pm Friday.
"One of the buses rammed into the other from the rear side pushing it into a ditch after its driver lost control of the vehicle. The car then hit the first bus from behind," an eyewitness told the Star.
Those injured were rushed to hospital.
Police are rescuing victims as they clear the scene.
