It must come naturally to President William Ruto to frown upon any state officers acting in a manner that steps on the very ethical fabric of governance and leadership that he’s leading.

From that fact, Ruto should not condone, for the sake of politics, individuals who are ruining the image of government and those who seem to be biting the hand that feeds them and mocking citizens reeling under the weight of mounting bills.

When you listen to some of the remarks by some high-ranking government officials, you would be forgiven for thinking that they are gladly belching in the face of people who are starving.

The benefits they draw from high office must not make them oblivious or insensitive to the needs of common citizens.

And that is why it is encouraging to have read the tongue-lashing, or the riot act, from Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, reminding haughty public servants to think before opening their mouths.

But we also appreciate that some individuals are engaged in a game of political musical chairs and they care less about bringing honour to the offices they occupy.

Not so long ago, while presiding over, and overseeing, the signing of performance contracts by state officers, Ruto expressed dissatisfaction in the way some CSs and PSs are aloof and have no idea how their ministries or departments are managed.

It goes, therefore, without saying that the issue of Ruto reorganising or reconstituting his Cabinet, even principal secretaries, is a matter that needs urgent attention.

The delayed reshuffle is creating even more anxiety because the public is running out of patience in expecting first-class service delivery and implementation of Kenya Kwanza's manifesto.

The cost of living has gone through the roof since Ruto took office and the implementation of his policies has not brought hope to the public yet that life will get better sooner rather than later.

Ruto must not only act but should continuously be seen to be acting, to convince Kenyans that it will soon be well.
