In his closing remarks on Wednesday, Ruto said he was satisfied with the work well done in the first Summit and the progress that has taken place.

"With humility, I thank you for kindly accepting our invitation to attend this summit, and for your patience throughout the proceedings. Your devotion to Africa’s contribution to the transformation of global climate action is exemplary and to be admired," he said.

The Head of State expressed his gratitude to those in attendance at the Summit noting he was grateful for their steadfast support and commitment to our unity.

Ruto commended the Committee of African Heads of State on Climate Change for giving the opportunity to champion climate action and green industrialisation.

He also extended his arm of gratitude to the  African Union, and the African Union Commission, for unstinting support for his leadership of CAHOSCC, and for the Summit.

"Much has gone into the preparations as well as the conduct of the actual Summit. The political and technical support has equally been vital for our successful management of logistical, technological, diplomatic, financial, and other requirements," Ruto said.

The summit was expected to also look into ways of helping African countries vulnerable to adverse effects of climate change cope with the same.

It will also serve as a platform to inform, frame, and influence commitments, pledges, and outcomes, ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration.
