French Minister of State for Development Chrysoula Zacharopoulou will on Monday visit Kibra's Olympic Primary School to launch Dishi na County programme.
He is expected to be at the school at 11:30 am and will be there up until 12:50 pm.
The programme, which will see that more school children have access to meals at school, kicked off on August 28.
The Dishi na County serves meals to public ECD and primary school children.
Zacharopoulou is in the country as France President Emmanuel Macron's special envoy to the Africa Climate Summit which will run from September 4 to September 8, 2023.
A statement on Monday by the France Embassy said its participation in the Dishi na County project is aimed at ensuring that school children, especially those at the informal settlements get their meals.
It noted that many of the children lack food leading to cases of underweight and stunted growth.
It further noted that the programme will see that some 250,000 school pupils in the public nursery and elementary schools in Nairobi will be fed by 2027.
The food will be sourced from local farmers and it will be prepared daily in a "giga kitchen", which will produce 60,000 meals a day in the 10 kitchens around the county.
"The French government contribution will take the form of a one million euro grant to F4E (Food for Education) via the PAA for the "Feeding the Future Nairobi County" project from September 2023 to September 2024, aimed at feeding 25,000 children aged three to 16 in the county," the statement added.
Zacharopoulou will be accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger, County Executive for Health Suzanne Silantoi, Founder for Food for Education Wawira Njiru and Director of fundraising at Food for Education Lyvia David.
