Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and World Athletics Champion Mary Moraa on August 30, 2023.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has congratulated World Athletics Champion Mary Moraa.

Moraa clocked  1:56.03 to win a gold medal at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

IG Koome met the 800m Gold Medalist Moraa at his Office at NPS headquarters.

"Congratulations and well done, you have made NPS proud," IG Koome said.

Moraa was enlisted in the Administration Police Service as a Police Constable in 2021.

She currently serves under the Rapid Deployment Unit responsible for emergency response to public disorders.

The IG advised Corporal Moraa and her fellow NPS athletes to uphold discipline and shun malpractices, particularly doping.

"Of the 10 Medals won by Kenya in Budapest, five were bagged by NPS Officers," he said.

"The National Police Service remains committed to its Constitutional mandate to strive for the highest standards of professionalism."

President William Ruto led other leaders in congratulating and heaping praises at her.

Ruto termed the performance as "phenomenal".

"Kenya celebrates you," he said.
