In its initiative to digitalise government services, the Kenya Kwanza government on Friday launched over 5,000 fully digitised services.

Speaking when he presided over the launch, President William Ruto said Kenyans will be able to access the digital signature, which will ease the use of government services on a digital platform.

He added that the signature is one of two essentials towards moving the government to the digital platform.

"So it should be possible for us now to transact on a digital platform and even as you work to make sure that you access government services. We want you to sign for those government services on a digital platform and have a digital signature," he said.

The President, who has already accessed his signature, said there will be training on how to get the same.

The second essential is for the citizens to have a Digital Identity.

He tasked the Ministries of Interior and National Coordination under CS Kithure Kindiki and that of ICT and Digital Economy under Eliud Owalo to deliver the ID.

He expressed confidence that it was "doable".

"In the next 90 days, we must have a Digital ID. That digital ID has been traumatic for Kenya. We are all aware that there was another phantom project called Huduma Namba that was a complete fraud," he said.

The President assured that his administration was not going to spend the amount that was put into Huduma Namba.

"We will not spend the Sh15 billion that was spent on Huduma Namba and it is not going to take centuries. We are very confident that we have the competence to do this."
