Embattled Jubilee Secretary Jeremiah Kioni has hit out at the government for branding itself God-instated.

Kioni said God did not belong to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, but rather to all Kenyans.

"Mwenyenzi Mungu huwezi kumuweka kwa carton akawa ni wa UDA. Mwenyenzi Mungu ni wa waKenya wote. Na sisi wote tuliomba Mwenyenzi Mungu," he said.

(The Almighty God cannot be contained in a carton and belong to UDA. The Almighty God belongs to all Kenyans. We all prayed to the Almighty God.)

Kioni spoke on Friday during an Azimio meeting at Yatta Farm.

Quoting the Bible in the book of Hosea, he said not all leadership is established in heaven.

Hosea 8:4 states, "They set up kings without my consent; they chose princes without my approval. With their silver and gold, they make idols for themselves to their own destruction."

In a direct hit to President William Ruto, Kioni said the challenges that Kenyans were going through were a punishment so that they can learn how to pray in the next election period.

"Not all leaders come from God. Some have been given to us because you prayed for such leaders, to suffer because you asked for them," he said.

Since he was declared President, Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua have been attributing his victory to God.

On August 15, 2022, Ruto said God had enabled him to waver the storms to become Kenya's fifth president.

In his opening remarks soon after being declared the winner of the August 9 contest, Ruto said he managed to get to the finish line by God's Grace.

"I want to thank God that today we have concluded this election. I know that there were predictions that I would not get to the ballot, there were predictions that we wouldn't get here but because of God we are here," Ruto said.

In September 2022, after the Supreme Court upheld his win, the President reiterated that he had been "prayed into victory."

"With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” — Mark 10:27,"Ruto added.
