The circus surrounding the ownership of the Jubilee party continued Monday with a group led by EALA MP Kanini Kega denouncing their suspension as of no legal consequence.
Addressing the press moments after being expelled in a meeting chaired by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, Kega termed the meeting as a mere 'political rally' noting the officials who convened it remained expelled.
"You will recall that the national disciplinary committee found Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe guilty of indiscipline as per the decision that was ratified by the national executive committee that sat on May 19 effectively expelling them from the membership of the party," Kega said in a statement.
Taking on Uhuru, the official said he ceased being the party leader and thus he has no powers to call or chair any party.
"It is unfortunate that he has defied a legitimate position of the party organ...such impunity is unacceptable and illegal and taints the reputation of the office of the retired president," he added.
Arguing they are the bonafide officials, Kega noted they will not hesitate to take further disciplinary action against him the former party leader in order to restore its "dignity and reclaim its rightful place".
Kega at the same time asked MCAs elected on the party ticket to ignore any communication from the expelled officials.
A special national delegates conference, he said, will be held not later than July 15.
"We call upon our members to be patient as we await the determination of the Internal dispute resolution committee on the aforesaid dispute after which the national executive council will meet to execute its mandate relating to the convening of the meeting," he stated.
