President William Ruto has weighed in on Azimio protestors who carry Sufuria’s on the head while demonstrating.

Speaking in Ongata Rongai, he said the act will not cause unga prices to reduce.

“Mimi nauliza wewe mtu ya Rongai, ata ukiweka sufuria kwa kichwa miaka tatu, bei ya unga itapungua?” Ruto asked.

(I want to ask you, the people of Rongai, even if you put Sufuria on the head for three years, will the price of Unga reduce?)

He urged Kenyans to ignore protests and focus on development since that is what they wanted while they were voting.

“Mimi nauliza nyinyi, wakati tulienda kupiga kura, tulisema kura ikimalizika tutaanza maandamano ama tutaanza maendeleo? Si tulisema tuendelee na maendeleo,” Ruto said.

He added that the opposition should stop disturbing Kenyans with protests.

“Mimi nawaambia wawache mambo ya kutusumbua. Mimi niliwaambia kitendawili haitaanza. Sasa hawa wanataka kutuletea kitendawili ya maandamano.

(I want to tell them to stop disturbing us. I told them that they won’t start riddles. Now they want to bring riddles in form of demonstrations.)

Azimio La Umoja is expected to resume protests next week as announced by Azimio National Executive Council chairman Wycliffe Oparanya.

They said the nationwide mass protests will resume on Tuesday, May 2.

They claimed that Ruto exhibited absolute bad faith towards the bipartisan talks thereby resulting in the resumption of demos.
