Four dead in Eldoret- Nakuru highway grisly road accident

Four people have died in a grisly road accident involving a bus along the Eldoret- Nakuru Highway.

The accident occured in Mau Summit after the Tahmeed Bus rolled several times.

Police said the driver of the bus who escaped with minor injuries told them he was avoiding colliding with an oncoming lorry when he lost control of the vehicle and knocked some students who were walking home from school.

17 other people were critically injured while 10 others sustained minor injuries.

Kuresoi North Sub County Police Commander, Judah Gathenge said there are three infants among those critically injured.

He said the bus belonging to Tahmeed Company was ferrying passengers from Eldoret to Nairobi when the accident occured.

"The bus lost control on a downhill stretch and no other vehicle was involved," he said.

Gathenge said a student had just boarded the bus a short distance from the accident scene.

He observed that the stretch was a black spot and urged motorists to be cautious.

"Ten people sustained minor injuries and they are all being treated at the Molo Sub-County Hospital," he added.

Gathenge said the bodies were removed to Molo Sub-County Hospital while the bus was towed to Mau Summit Police Station.
