The Kenya National Highway Authority on Thursday cautioned motorists plying the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway to exercise caution after the road flooded due to heavy downpour.

In a statement, Kenha said that there is an ongoing clearance at the road.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to reach their destination.

"Motorists plying or planning to use the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway are informed of an ongoing clearance of the overburden after last night’s heavy rainfall which resulted in flooding and extensive deposition of eroded material on the road," the statement read.

Kenha said that motorists should use Narok-Kisiriri-Nakuru Road and Mai Mahiu-Nakuru Road.

"Motorists are further advised to exercise caution as they drive through this area, especially at night and when it’s raining," the statement read.

Nairobi residents on Thursday woke up to flooded roads as heavy rains pounded the capital.
