A section of Bishops and pastors from Kibera have united in urging Parliament to carry out necessary legal measures to ensure the Supreme Court ruling which allowed the registration of LGBTQ associations is not implemented.

Led by Bishops Sammy Imbuka and Jeremiah Mugala, the clergy asked the lawmakers to declare the ruling evil and against the country’s moral standards.

“It’s against our faith to legalize or register LGBTQ. This will invite a curse and God’s judgment upon our land and generation.”

The clergy warned of God’s wrath if LGBTQ is legalized or even registered equating it to sexual sin recorded in the Bible which made God destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

“We believe that God has called us to represent our society and preserve our moral values and the Bible is our standard. Anything that’s against the Bible is against God and must be denounced.”

The clergy have asked the government led by President William Ruto to take a strong stand on the issue and reject it in totality.

Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma intends to table a motion in Parliament to increase the severity of the penalty for homosexual offenders while his Nyali counterpart tabled a motion seeking a total discussion on LGBTQ.
