President William Ruto has announced additional changes in key government parastatals.

In a gazette notice dated February 17, the head of state appointed Dr Abdillahi Ibrahim as the new chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).

Abdillahi replaces Dr Daniel Musyoka who had been appointed by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Abdillahi Ibrahim to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Research Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from February 17, 2023," the notice reads.

He also appointed former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khangati to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nzoia Sugar Company Limited, for a period of three years.

The president in additional changes revoked the appointment of Alphonse Kioko as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Fund.

Following the revocation, President Ruto picked Samson Kipkoech Some as his replacement.

The changes are part of Ruto's reorganisation of government as he aims to deliver his campaign promises to Kenyans.

Some key allies of the president have been awarded these state corporation jobs.
