Former IEBC Commissioner Wafula Chebukati has thrown suspended commissioner Irene Masit under the bus.
While appearing before a tribunal hearing on Tuesday, Chebukati revealed that Masit suggested to the commission that they agree to the terms of conditions said by Azimio la Umoja executive director Raphael Tuju and former Busia Senator Amos Wako
While explaining the events which occurred on August 15 at 3 am, Chebukati said Wako and Tuju visited him and had two requests regarding the presidential results.
The agenda of the visit, according to him was to try and convince him to skew the results in favour of one of the two leading presidential candidates to avoid a crisis.
"The guests came and Wako requested me to moderate the results in favour of Raila Odinga while Tuju wanted us to force a run-off," he said.
As a result, Chebukati said he called for a meeting that he chaired in the presence of Tuju and Wako.
He said he gave the commissioners an opportunity to give their opinions on the matters that had been raised by Tuju and Wako.
"The guests came with the requests and Masit said we should consider Tuju's and Wako's requests for runoff and moderation requests," Chebukati said.
However, the former IEBC boss said he rejected the requests as it would be against the law and the oath they took.
"I rejected the requests because the will of the people must be respected and we(the commission) must live to the oath we took," Chebukati said.
