Worshippers at PCEA church Langas in Eldoret are happy after President William Ruto delivered on his promise to buy a car for their pastor.
Ruto made the promise when he visited the church for prayers a few days before the 2022 August polls.
The car was delivered by nominated MP Joseph Wainaina and handed over to Reverend Charles Mutahira.
Mutahira said he was surprised that the head of state had kept his pledge.
Nominated MCA Wachira Maina was also present.
“What the president has done is a rare blessing and he has demonstrated that he is a leader who keeps his word. We are so grateful to him,” Mutahira said.
He said on so many occasions people make promises which they do not keep but the President had proved that he truly relies on God to serve the people.
“We pray that God continues to give him the grace and wisdom to serve the country because it’s through the same God that he won the elections after coming to our church to pray with us,” Mutahira said.
Wainaina said although the President had a busy schedule and a lot to handle, he still remembered the promise he made.
“He sent me to deliver the car and also requested that the church and others continue praying for the country and all leaders,” Wainaina said.
He said the church had prayed a crucial role in Ruto’s victory and that the President believed the church would continue to guide the country to prosperity.
At the same time, Wainaina and Reverend Mutahira said they fully support the president’s latest efforts to unite the country including areas that did not support him during the elections.
The MP said Ruto’s latest visit to the Nyanza region is a demonstration of his commitment to uniting the country and enabling leaders to concentrate on serving.
“We should now focus on serving Kenyans because we are through with elections and our country faces serious challenges,” Wainaina said.
The MP has also advised parents to be keen on the upbringing of children especially due to emerging challenges touching on morality.
“We have seen some strange behaviour emerging in our country which goes against our culture. We should not accept such at all costs,” he said.
