Willy Mutunga is a renowned lawyer and former Chief Justice.

The Star had a 5-minute interview with him and here is what he had to say.

I'm good at..............reading. I read, write, meditate, walk and exercise a lot.

I'm bad at......... Prioritising. I have a selfish streak. If there is something  I have to do, I prioritise it and in the process, I hurt people. I don't like it but it's the truth.

The last book I enjoyed reading is............ A political book. How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney.

A common misconception of mine is.....I assume human beings have humanity. I assume people can relate to torture and gender inequalities. I have come to realise it is a class thing. I deal with it by writing and clarifying it because I realise it is a struggle to be human.

The most surprising thing that happened to me is............... Being appointed CJ. I didn't expect it.

One of my worst childhood fears was................ Snakes

I wish people would take more notice of................. The inhumanity around us. I wish everybody focused on that. The fact that not everybody goes to school, has food, and housing, people dying because of the lack of universal health care, the fact that people are homeless and inequality that is in the country.

My ideal night out................ Would be very political. Having discussions that are insightful and exciting.

In moments of weakness I............ Self-critique, reflection and assessment. That's when you become accountable for your actions and words. I have a reflective mind.

In another life, I would have been................. A pastor, Jesus. People who symbolise humanity.

If I was not a lawyer, I would................. Be a teacher

The best age to be is................. When you are healthy. Health is wealth once you have health at any age that is the best thing you can have.

The best part of my job is................. Humanity. I have been in human rights, activism and in movements because I feel very strongly that the inequalities we have are not good.

I would want a system where a poor child can go to school and access medical services. Politically I'm a socialist. We can have a society that is equitable.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is................. The vision of a nation or people that are equal. Where there is gender justice, gender equity and a  prosperous society. In my life, I have been involved in activities that move us in that direction.

My idea of perfect happiness is................. A continuous and consistent good health.

Living people I most admire.................Prof Micere Mugo

My greatest regret is.................No any regret

If I was to die in five minutes, my last words would be................. A Luta continua (The struggle continues) and vitória é certa (Victory is certain).
