Police are investigating the discovery of a body of a woman that was found stuffed in a sack and dumped in a riverbank in Njoro, Nakuru County.
Two children who were fetching firewood along the Ndarugu River stumbled on the body of the woman aged between 35 and 40.
Police said they established the body had its both hands and legs tied and had been cut into pieces and stuffed into a sack.
Her mouth had been stuffed with a towel probably to stop her from screaming for help.
Police concluded the woman was killed elsewhere and body dumped at the scene.
The scene was processed and the body was moved to Egerton University mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
Police said they are yet to make an arrest or established the motive of the murder.
Elsewhere in Kavisuni, Kitui County, children who were grazing livestock stumbled on the body of a man aged 70.
Police who visited the scene said they found a medical form bearing the name Musyoka Mutunga aged 70 years and suffering from tuberculosis.
The scene was processed and the decomposed body was moved to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In Kamuthanga sub-location in Kaningo, the body of one Syiengo Matei aged 47 years was found with deep cuts.
Police said he was killed by unknown people.
Locals told police Matei went to graze his animals in Mwingi Game Reserve but never returned and that only his cattle returned in the evening on January 2.
It was until days later that his body was found murdered within the game reserve.
Police visited the scene and concluded the body had multiple cut injuries on the neck, head and private parts.
The motive of the murder is yet to be known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
