Fallen Brazilian footballer and icon Pele was born on October 23, 1940, in the Southeastern City of Tres Coracoes.

Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, grew up selling peanuts on the street to help his poor family.

His nickname Pele was due to his inability to pronounce Bile, the name of a goalkeeper at Vasco de Sao Lourenco, where his footballer father once played.
