Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda has weighed in on Governor Kawira Mwangaza's impeachment.

Lesuuda said Mwangaza was dismissed too soon without being given a chance to work on her wrongs adding that impeachment was not supposed to be an option.

She said on the issue of Mwangaza's husband helping her, its a choice and she is not the first one in the political scene to be given a hand by a spouse.

"Governor Kawira Mwangaza was written off too soon. We see husbands and wives supporting their spouses to deliver in political spaces every other day," she tweeted.

"It’s really one’s choice. I believe it is something that she can work on without being impeached. Lady said pole 67 times jameni!"

Governor Mwangaza was impeached on December 14.

The impeachment motion was tabled at the Meru assembly.

Some 67 out of 69 MCAs voted yes to the impeachment motion tabled by Abogeta West MCA Dennis Kiogora and minority party whip.

"I wish to declare that the Governor of Meru Kawira Mwangaza stands impeached by the assembly," Speaker Ayub Bundi Solomon said.

Women MPs on Friday condemned Mwangaza's impeachment and appealed to the Senate to quash her removal.

The legislators said the impeachment is uncalled for and an indication of malice and feminism.

"We condemn the action by the 67 MCAs. She was just 115 days in office and was yet to start work properly. We ask the Senate to overturn her removal," Vihiga woman rep Beatrice Adagala said.
