Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called a meeting with six governors from the counties affected by insecurities.
In a video seen by the Star, he said the governors are from West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Laikipia, Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
"We are inviting you for a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation in that part of the country and going forward we are going to work together," he said.
Gachagua said it's time governors get involved with issues affecting the people they are leading.
"It cannot be that governors have no say in security matters yet it affects their own people. This is a new paradigm shift in our governance that we want efforts by all leaders and if we do, I think things will get better," he said.
"We invite you for a meeting with our officers from the ground who are handling insecurity so that we get to agree on what to do in those part of the country that is causing a lot of concern."
He reiterated that it will be a continuous engagement between county government and national government to do things for the benefit of Kenyans.
Gachagua's remarks come days after 11 people were Saturday killed by armed gunmen in a cattle-rustling incident in Turkana East, Turkana county.
The victims included eight police officers, a chief and two villagers.
Police spokesman Bruno Shioso said the victims were pursuing a heavily armed gang that had raided a village and made away with livestock when they were ambushed.
“The officers were in hot pursuit of Pokot bandits who had raided a village in Turkana East and made away with livestock,” he said.
