A teacher on Wednesday told an anti-corruption court that Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi did complete his studies at Tulwopng’etuny Primary School.

Simon Cherop, a P1 teacher from Baringo county, told magistrate Felix Kombo that he taught Sudi Mathematics in Standard 6 and 7 but he does not know where he went after that.

Cherop also said he doesn't know which secondary school Sudi attended.

Sudi at the time was also known as Kipchumba Kipletich.

The witness was recalled after the defence sought some clarification from his testimony confirming that the MP was a pupil at the school.

“In 1995 I admitted a pupil by the name Kipchumba Kipletich also known as Oscar Sudi and he joined Standard 6 and studied for 2 years,” the witness said.

The teacher referred to an admission book confirming Sudi was admitted under admission number 770.

The witness further explained that sometime in 2015, one of the officers handling the case-Derrick Kaisha came asking for details regarding Sudi.

Cherop told the court that the officer's interest was to confirm if Sudi was not a pupil in the school.

However, more details about Cherop also irked Kombo who sought clarity on why the witness, who attended Machakos Teachers Training College in the early 90s and was admitted as a teacher in 1994 but has never been promoted despite not having no disciplinary issues.

The magistrate, however, wished Cherop success in his career.

The case proceeded on Wednesday for a hearing in the absence of Sudi.

It was also listed for hearing on Thursday but the matter was taken out to allow the MP to attend the swearing-in session in Parliament.

The matter has since been pushed for a hearing on November 22.

Two witnesses are remaining before the prosecution closes its case. The two are a document examiner and the investigating officer.

Sudi has been charged with forging a diploma certificate in Business Management purporting it to be a genuine document issued by the Kenya Institute of Management.

He is also accused of forging his KCSE certificate saying it is a genuine document issued by the Kenya National Examination council.
