Embassies, high commissions congratulate Ruto after win upheld

Embassies and High Commissions in Kenya have congratulated president-elect William Ruto after Supreme Court upheld his win on Monday.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the high commissioners said they look forward to working with Ruto in the new government.

“We congratulate the president-elect William Ruto on being elected to serve the republic of Kenya as the fifth president. We look forward to working with Ruto and his administration,” the statement read.

The Embassies and High Commissioners are from Australia, Denmark, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and US.

The high commissioners acknowledged the contribution of Raila Odinga to the democratic evolution in Kenya.

They commended Kenyans and its independent institutions for conducting the election in the spirit of democracy, freedom and the rule of law.

“From a peaceful campaign and transparent tallying to formal dispute mechanism being followed and their verdicts being respected, Kenyans continue to show the World how to be a modern, democratic nation,” read the statement.
