Nairobi City Stars management has paid glowing tribute to midfielder Sven Yidah who joined South African top-tier side Marumo Gallants.
Yidah made his PSL debut on Sunday in their 2-2 draw against Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.
City Stars team coordinator, Samson Otieno, described Yidah as hardworking, committed and a very dependable player.
“He deserved his move to South Africa as he always gave an unmatched and consistent performance all through under coach Sanjin Alagic in his first year at City Stars, and Nicholas Muyoti in the second year. We wish him the very best at his new workstation,” said Otieno.
On his side, head coach Nicholas Muyoti said: “Sven always had the right shift across last season and put in a man-of-the-match performance in every game he featured in.
"He would have loved to keep him longer, but his discipline and commitment to his tasks opened up bigger doors for him. He has our blessings following his move to Marumo Gallants.”
Yidah joined Nairobi City Stars at the onset of the 2020/21 FKF Premier League season from Kariobangi Sharks on a two-year deal and went on to feature in 59 of 67 topflight games, scoring three goals.
Yidah took to Twitter where he thanked coaches Nicholas Muyoti, John Amboko, Sanjin Alagic, and the entire technical bench. “I say thank you very much for making me a better player by pushing me to do my best every day,” he said.
In another Facebook post on August 20, Yidah said: “I am happy to begin a new chapter in my life with Marumo Gallants FC. I promise to give my very best, every day! Thanks to the Almighty God for this blessing. Thanks to you all, my family, friends, and fans for always supporting me. Please continue showing that love and encouragement as I take up this new challenge.”
