Ousted Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Paul Wainaina has requested students and staff to disregard the current administration.

In a letter addressed to KU students and staff, Wainaina said the current council chaired by Chrispus Kiamba is illegitimate.

Wainaina said the Kiamba-led council was only brought in to do what his administration had refused to do.

"It, therefore, follows that all of their decisions are also illegal and will be determined to be null and void," Wainaina said.

On Friday, the Employment and Labour courts clarified that the government's plan to use 410 acres of KU land meant well.

Wainaina, however, said despite being hounded out of office, he was appointed to serve for a five-year term starting in 2018.

"They wasted no time in ceding the same in letters to Harambee and Ardhi houses, which they backdated to the date the Order was issued," Wainaina said.

The embattled VC further faulted the Kiamba-led council for handpicking his replacement, Waceke Wanjohi.

He said there are many other people who would fill his void.

"There are numerous Kenyans who could occupy these positions following competitive and legal processes outlined in the State Corporations Act and the Universities Act," he added.
