Deputy President William Ruto has told elected women leaders that the hustler nation is counting on them.
In a statement on Saturday, the DP, in a congratulatory message, wished them well as they begin their new responsibilities.
He also commended all leaders who have sealed victory across all five elective positions.
"Congratulations to all election winners. In particular, we celebrate the many women who have broken barriers to climb the political ladder. Best wishes as you embark on your new responsibilities. Hustlers are counting on you," Ruto said in a tweet.
The DP's party, United Democratic Alliance, has put up a stellar performance that has seen it bag a number of seats in central and the Rift Valley regions.
At least seven female candidates have bagged gubernatorial positions. Among them, four are from UDA, one from Wiper, another ODM and an Independent.
