Raila bags majority votes in Lamu East constituency

Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has taken a lead in the latest verified presidential results for Lamu East, Lamu county.

The constituency's results were released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

Chebukati is the returning officer of the presidential election.

In the results, Raila garnered 9564 votes while his Kenya Kwanza opponent William Ruto is trailing him with 4639 votes.

Roots leader George Wajackoyah got 452 votes while David Mwaure of the Agano Party got 48 votes.

Chebukati said the County had 22,047 registered voters.

The valid votes casted were 14,703 while the rejected ballots were 436.

By the time of going to the press, Chebukati had released presidential results from six constituencies out of the total 290.
