Dido Ali Raso issued certificate

Saku MP Dido Ali Raso has successfully defended his seat on the UDA ticket.

Constituency returning officer Simeon Sanchan declared Raso the winner after he garnered 7,192 votes against his closest competitor Dr Waqo Dulacha Ejersa of Jubilee Party, who got 6,441 votes.

The constituency has 30,209 voters; 21,263 cast their votes during the Tuesday general election.

Raso pledged to initiate development projects and work to improve people's lives.

He praised residents for maintaining peace during the campaigns, election and announcement of results, saying it was a sign of political maturity.

He made history by being elected for the third term in a constituency that has never reelected its MPs for more than two terms.

Raso attributed his success to service delivery and being accountable to the constituents.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2013 on the URP ticket and was reelected in 2017 on the Jubilee Party ticket.

Raso was appointed by UDA as its point man to coordinate party activities in Isiolo and Marsabit counties.

The MP-elect promised to work with his opponents, calling them to present their ideas for the betterment of the constituents' lives.

Raso promised to fulfil his campaign pledges.

"Let's now embark on serious business to serve the people," he said while addressing supporters outside Moi girls, Marsabit.

Raso promised to serve everyone equally regardless of gender, race, political affiliation or tribe and ensure resources are shared equally.

He said his priority will be to continue focusing on education to ensure the constituents, especially the young people, get quality education and promote the region's development.

"My priority is and will be always to reduce illiteracy. I will focus on education in my third term," Raso said.
