Mohammed Ali retains Nyali MP seat

Ali garnered 32,988 votes to recapture the seat he first won in 2017 as an Independent candidate.

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has retained his seat in the just concluded general elections.

Ali garnered 32,988 votes against his main rival Said Abdalla alias Saido of ODM who got 18,642.

The results were announced by Nyali constituency returning officer John ole Taiswa at the constituency tallying center, National Industrial Training Authority (Nita) Mombasa.

Ali, better known as Moha or Jicho Pevu, first contested for the seat in 2017 as an Independent candidate.

He, however, defended the seat on a UDA ticket at the August 9 general election. 

Four rivals were seeking to unseat him from the seat at the polls. 

Moha thanked his supporters in his acceptance speech promising them that he will deliver what he promised during the campaign period.

"Nataka kuwashukuru kwa kunichagua, wale tulikua tunashindana nao sasa ni wakati wa kuchapa kazi pamoja," he said.

Moha's supporters welcomed his win with joy as they broke into celebrations as soon as he was declared winner.
