Dickson Macharia alias Deco after his arrest on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

Nakuru Principal Magistrate Isaac Orenge has allowed police to hold the suspected Confirm gang ring leader' Dickson Macharia for 15 days to allow the police to conclude the investigation.

The detectives had moved to Nakuru Law Courts seeking orders to detain a suspected mastermind of the outlawed ‘Confirm gang’ group for 30 days.

Orenge said that the state had raised enough and good reasons for the continued detention of the suspect pending hearing of the case.

The suspect will be held at the Nakuru police station.

"My view is that the 30-day period is such a long time, considering the fact that the investigators have zeroed in on issues. I will allow them 15 days" Orenge stated.

Mr Orenge also ordered the movement of the suspect within the Nakuru police station to be documented.

The case will be mentioned on August 19 for the court to give further directions.

Macharia was arrested on August 3, 2022. He is suspected to be a Confirm gang leader and mastermind behind murder cases, M-Pesa fraud, and drug trafficking in Nakuru and its environs.

He allegedly led six other suspects in killing four women in Mawanga area, Nakuru.

The six have since denied murder charges before the High Court.
