All roads lead to the Gusii Stadium on Tuesday as the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition flagbearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua take their campaigns in the region.

This will be the last rally in the larger Gusii as the country goes for the much awaited general election.

Addressing the press in Kisii, Governor James Ongwae welcomed Raila and his entourage to Gusii and called on electorate to come in large numbers to attend and listen to his agenda.

Ongwae said the Azimio caravan will traverse the county before holding a mega rally at the stadium in the afternoon.

"Baba the fifth will have several side meetings across the county, including at Masimba in Nyaribari Masaba, Nyamache in Bobasi, Marani in Kitutu Chache North, Ofembo in Bomachoge and Suneka in Bonchari," Ongwae said.

"I urge the Kisii people and our neighbours from Nyamira county to come and hear the goodies he has for us before Kenyans confirm him...in a week's time."

The governor said Gusii community has maintained a peaceful coexistence with its Luo neighbours since independence and that a Raila presidency would bring about numerous infrastructural development in the region.

"In August last year, we met as delegates from Nyanza at Sikri and gave Baba our blessings to run for the highest seat. We told him to traverse other regions and beg for support, and I am glad that he has been accepted across the nation," Ongwae said.

The county chief described Tuesday as a historic day and asked  the region to ensure that the Azimio presidential candidate and his entourage receive a warm and enthusiastic reception.

He called on the community to turn out in large numbers and vote for the Raila on August 9.
